OUR PRIMARY PROGRAM

Why Choose a Montessori Preschool in Lancaster or Northborough?

Most preschools ask children to fit a mold. Nashoba Montessori does the opposite. Your child chooses their work, follows their curiosity and builds skills at their own pace — inside a carefully prepared environment with teachers trained to observe, guide and get out of the way when the learning is happening.

The result is a child who is genuinely excited to be at school every morning.

THE THREE-YEAR JOURNEY

The Montessori Preschool Advantage — Each Year Builds on the Last

Children stay in the Primary classroom for three years — a Montessori preschool structure that builds confidence, leadership and academic readiness over time.

Year One · Ages 2.9–3.5

Your child settles in, learns the rhythm of the classroom and begins choosing work that genuinely interests them. Social skills, sensory exploration and independence take root.

Year Two · Ages 3.5–4.5

Confidence grows. Your child begins to take on a natural leadership role — helping younger classmates, deepening their skills and finding their voice in the community.

Year Three · The Kindergarten Year

Everything comes together. Reading, writing and math come to life. Your child leads the classroom and leaves with strong academic skills and an unshakeable love of learning.

“The goal of early childhood education should not be to fill a child with facts from a set course, but rather to cultivate his own natural desire to learn.”

— DR. MARIA MONTESSORI

MONTESSORI PRESCHOOL CURRICULUM

Preschool Curriculum — Six Areas of Learning, Every Single Day

Our Montessori preschool curriculum covers practical life, literacy, math, STEAM, science and the arts — building preschool readiness through hands-on exploration every day.

Practical Life — Real Skills, Real Confidence

Pouring, folding, food preparation, flower arranging. Children build fine motor skills and independence — and learn the most satisfying phrase in childhood: “I did it myself.”

Math — Concrete to Abstract

Hands-on Montessori materials make number concepts tangible before they become abstract. Children explore quantity, sequence and operations in a natural progression.

Science, Culture & STEAM

Geography, botany, animal classes, physical and natural science — explored indoors and out. STEAM has been part of the Montessori curriculum for over 100 years. Here it is not a trend, it is the foundation.

Sensorial Exploration

Materials that engage all the senses. Children sort, match, grade and classify — building memory, reasoning and creative imagination through discovery.

Language & Literacy — Phonics to Reading

Rich vocabulary runs through every corner of the classroom. Sandpaper letters, phonics, poetry, storytelling and early reading materials work together to kindle the natural desire to read and write.

Music, Art and Yoga

African drumming, multi-cultural music, open-ended art and daily yoga are not electives here — they are woven into the rhythm of every day.

WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING

“Nashoba Montessori was quite simply one of the best early decisions I made for my 3 children. I fully credit their love of learning, curiosity, independence and confidence to their start at NMS.”

— Kelly Q., NMS Parent

IS MY CHILD READY?

Preschool Readiness at Nashoba Montessori

Parents often ask: “When should a child start preschool?” or “How do I know if my child is ready?” At Nashoba Montessori, preschool readiness is not a checklist — it is something we build toward from the very first day. Children join our Primary Program as young as 2.9 and develop socially, emotionally and academically at their own pace. By the time they complete the three-year cycle, they leave confident, curious and fully ready for the next step.
